DVDs are as cool as Thomas J. Kickass (whom you should all vote for)

But Double posts are suck, no?

:)

I watch my DVDs on a 15 inch monitor, and I wouldnt watch a movie unless its in widescreen.

GladiatorMaximus: I cant stand Pan n Scan. Once somone showed me the "pan" part of the pan-n-scan, I notice it all the time, and it friggen gets on my nerves!, so Widescreen for me it is!

I believe that Thomas J. Kickass loves DVD's as well. So if you like DVD's, you'll love Thomas J. Kickass!

A model of Sony TV. Got me one, 36" of goodness. :D

"Good TV-ness is next to godliness"

Widesceen movies are much better because with non-letterbox versions you don't see the whole scene!

EDIT:
Grammar corrections. *sigh* :frown:

Wega is a model of Sony VCR's. They're regular Direct View (not projection nor HDTV) They're also quite expensive, but they give some of the best pictures possible on a non-HDTV tv. The top of the line Wega is the Sony Wega XBR 36" which has the MSRP of like $1699 or something.

That is why there is wide screen version GM. Pan and scan crops off some of the movie and you loose the full effect of how the moive was originally made in wide screen format.

actually the top of the line wega is the xbr400 :) the 36" model retails for just about 2500 and is gorgeous

but the real beauty of dvd's isn't the picture it's the sound. nothing like the quality of 5.1 dts or dolby digital. sound coming from all around 5 descrete speaker channels and a sub...better than a movie theater.

Ha ha! All you people with your 30" Sony TVs. I pity you and your poor, misguided souls!

I am proud to be the owner of a 64" Pioneer, High-Definition, Wide-Screen, Make-all-other-TVs-its-bitch Television. I use the term "television" loosely though... this monster screen is nothing short of God in a box. Mmmmmm..... Pioneer HDTV..... :p

Actually, my parents own it... but I still get to watch it! :D

I'm assuming you have a progessive scan dvd, raptor13? I'm looking for one to go with my new mitsu WS-65907. which one did you go with?

also can i ask why you went with the pioneer over the mitsu? imho the mitsu has a much better picture

I'll probably never have a big TV (over 32" anyway :p). For the price of some tv's it would be cheaper to get a good projector and a 100 inch screen. Not to mention how utterly slick it would be to motorize the screen and projector and have them drop/rotate into the living room/theater room ;) Couple that with an in-floor sub and a good 5.1 system and I'd never be heard from again :D

Well, projectors and screens are nice, but they're a pain in the ass to deal with. The room always has to be completely and utterly dark to really appreciate it. I'd be happy just w/ a really good Direct View 36" HDTV widescreen tv with digital decoder. :)
