i don't know about that guide. since when is maxell dvd media top class? i use my own personal guide: get a good burner like the benq 1655 or 1640 and feed it 8x Taiyo Yuden premium dvd media. verbatim is good for some people but i say why settle for second best? 8x -r and +rTY is king.

Very good info.

I bascially stick with Taiyo Yuden stuff, since it's easiest to find & cheap enough on sales.

I've found MIJ (Made-in-Japan) Sony & Fujifilm spindles are usually TY media.

Or if i have run out & local stores don't have any cheap sales on the aforementioned stuff, i just buy actual TY brand stuff.

Maxell branded spindles they sell are usually crap.

But i've occasionally found some they've made themselves, & it's excellent stuff; nothing new about that.
