DVD maker software for compiling mp4's, pics, media from youtube, etc

I'm wanting to make a compilation dvd video for a friend of as many videos I can find of her favorite band.

I'm hoping to take a high res image of the band, and make it the background for the menu. If possible, since I expect there to be many videos and possibly multiple menu pages, I would use a different photo for each one.

I'd also like to be able to create an image gallery.

Best software to throw all this together? I'm hoping I can burn it to a single/dual layer dvd that will likely play in her computers dvd player, or maybe even a console dvd player.

Try Windows Movie Maker first ... it is included with Windows and can probably do most of what you want. It is no cost. There are many other paid alternates out there, but I can't suggest them, as so far, I have not used them.

any other suggestions?

DVDflick will do some of what I want.. but I can't add my own menu background, photo gallery, etc.

I'm willing to pay for something.
