DVD Isos to xvid converter

Ive got some DVD's on disk as ISO files that Id like to shrink down to xvid for a trip Im taking this weekend. What is the best freeware that can do this?

I am interested in this same topic. I currently have most of my DVD ripped to my HD in ISO or IMG files all roughly 4.8 GB etc.

I grabbed Handbrake and although I love it... (heck it maxes out my 4 cores while doing its job)... I still need to convert my ISO/IMG files to .vob... using WinRar.

All I really want is to grab a DVD, put into my DVD-RW drive.. and rip the movie to my drive in one .avi file Xvid/DivX possibly. My issue is that once I used Handbrake... the Mp4 file it created, although great quality, was still to "powerful" to be used on my Tversity media server. I currently have 5 episodes of the Office that I downloaded... those have been converted or ripped or captured (not sure) to avi format ... Xvid. The quality is amazing (from HD broadcast) and I can access them across my Tversity media server (running on my computer) and accessed on my PS3 like a dream. Not one skip.

No matter what I do to the movies I have, over my wireless connection I simply cannot get the quality of these Office episodes and no matter what I do when I try opening these files on my PS3 from my Tversity media server... it stutters all to heck.. the bitrate(?) is way too high.

Is there any easier way to simply rip a DVD to my HD in .avi format (xvid) like these Office ones I have. When I use Gspot to look at the Office files, it shows Xvid codec, and the resolution is very good.. 658xXXX or something but way better than even regular DVD's.

I am so lost.. I've tried like 10 programs to convert my movies... too many options.. too much stuff to set and at the end it always ends up being to high quality to be able to play cleanly over my media server.

there is none better

are you talking about Fair Use Wizard? If so, I second that recommendation.

The freeware version will rip a DVD UP TO a 700Mb .avi file. This means you can go much smaller for free if you want to rip for a portable media player.
