DVD for Portable Audio

I'm not sure if this goes here or not, but oh well. I used to have a RioVolt mp3 player that was stolen from me last year in school. It ran on cds but had an mp3 decoder on the inside so I could burn my music as data instead of conforming to the 80 minute limit. I was wondering if there was a similar option like that but instead uses DVD's as the media. I'm thinking its pretty practical with dropping prices, it wouldn't be that expensive to slap on an mp3 decoder to a portable dvd drive.

I've searched Bestbuy and such, I can't find anything like it. Newegg only seems to sell flash based mp3 players, and I really don't feel like forking down 250-300 dollars for hard drive based player. Any ideas?
