What program can I use to encode DVD to my hard drive ( the problem is I have many DVDs like Family Guy and Futurama that have 6 episodes per DVD, is there anyway I can get each episode as it's own mpg or avi file?

use DVD decryptor in IFO mode. You can rip them individually to your HD, then use autogk or faire use to encode to divx/xvid whatever.

use DVD decryptor in IFO mode. You can rip them individually to your HD, then use autogk or faire use to encode to divx/xvid whatever.

My process:
- DVD Decrpyter, IFO mode
- DGIndex (makes a D2V project file, and a WAV file)
- VF@PI (Actually spelled with an "A", but the middle 3 letters comprise a banned word. Anyway, this makes a pseudo-AVI file.)
- Virtualdub + XviD + LAME (Open the AVI file. Do the first pass in XviD 1st-pass mode, but don't encode the audio. It'll just waste CPU cycles. Then the second pass, determine your bitrate, and set it to compress the audio. End result - high quality AVI files, one per episode. If you encode at full res, you'll want a 1GHz+ CPU on the system you're watching the episodes on, or it'll be jumpy.)

It may seem a bit roundabout, but it is all freeware, and it produces excellent results.

FairUse does them in one simple step...just insert DVD...let it analyse...say you want each episode seperate, choose encoder format, let it do its thing, a bit later and you got each seperate episode :D

I like it even better than #1 DVD Ripper, thanks for the tip!
Just bought it. Too bad I bought #1 DVD Ripper just a few months ago :(

I used FairUse and the aspect ratio always turned out funny for me. (very very slight though)

So now I use DVDDecryptor on IFO mode and use AutoGK to encode (it does everything else for you automatically).
