Ok so my comp has been working flawlessly for some time now. All of my games have been on CD but I've never had problems before writing dvd's or watching dvd's. The first drive I had the problem on is a sony dvd burner, it's only a month old but I've tested it pretty fully and it seemed to work fine.
After I got BF2, I left the dvd in the drive and for whatever reason, the dvd drive now randomly dissappears. Usually it happens while I'm playing BF2 but it has also happened when I wasn't playing the game (still had BF2 in the drive though). I replaced it with another Sony DVD drive (non-burner) and this drive randomly dissappears as well. The only difference, though, is that the burner required a reboot to be re-detected while the dvd-rom drive only dissappeared momentarily before windows reinstalled it.
Anyone ever have this problem? Do game dvd's stress the drive more then cds/dvd movies?
