DVD drive won't spin up

I have a Pioneer 103S DVD drive with the most up to date firmware. Anyways, when I insert a DVD or CD into the drive, it won't spin up. I took the case off the drive and hooked it up outside of my computer, and I can see the disk isn't spinning. If I give it a little push, it will spin and can read the disk fine (until I eject it, and this starts all over again). Any one have any suggestions on how I can fix this?

I had that drive, and never had a problem with it...:)

I think though your prob may be to do with the sensor that senses when the CD has been inserted!! I don't think it sees the disk until you give it this little nudge you speak of..hehe

If you don't mind opening it up, you should see a little toggle sensor at the back of the drive inside it. It may be a little dusty, or may be out of reach of the CD afetr it gets loaded! Adjust it if neccesary and see what happens! I doubt you can do any damage if you approach this safely and slowly! Don't force anything too much, as you may break it...:(

Good luck bud,
