DVD drive stopped working?

My LiteOn LTD163D drive all of a sudden stopped working. It shows up in My Computer, but doesn't recognize either CDs or DVDs. Does anybody have a similiar problem or know of a solution? Thanks!
 
i had a sony that stopped reading dvds but only read cds. i just bought a drd burner instead of troubleshooting since it was prbably a bad laser.
