DVD Drive Ruining MY LIFE.

Without the DVD drive running I can be playing FEAR at maximum settings while listening to ITUNES and convert a video to mp4.. no problems barely any slowdown..

when my dvd drive turns on to burn something or if I try to watch a dvd- the whole system slows down immensely and if the dvd burner is ripping a dvd my computer goes into lag mode and I can't listen to music through my speakers, it sounds slowed down and choppy. that also occurs when I attempt to watch a DVD.. I've never had optical drive issues so I have absolutely no idea what's going on.. any help is appreciated more then you could possibly understand.

Also before I realized this was a problem I purchased another DVD-rw drive on sale on newegg for 25 bucks.. (I bought the same one for 50 elsewhere..) I tried to install it to run with the current one I have and when I load windows everything slows down terribly- the my computer opens up but nothing shows and the whole explorer basically wants to be ctrl alt deleted. it works by itself as does the other drive (more or less) but together.. no dice... ideas?

Perhaps the overclocking is messing with the IDE bus?? Try running your cpu at stock speeds just temporarily.

From my experience, both ripping and burning are very resource intensive operations. I'm not surprised you're getting the lag issues.
