Hi, I got a plextor px-800a about a year ago or so and it's been working great until about christmas. It has stopped recognising blank DVDs that I put in the drive. I'm still using the same DVDs as before, I had a pack of about 10 of them, and had already burned onto about 6. Now when I put one in the drive it doesn't even spin up. I can't open it in my computer to drag files to it either. Anyone have any idea on how to fix it? Some quick google searches haven't really helped...

my system:
win xp pro sp2
athlon x2 4200+
2 GB corsair xms
audigy 2 zs
400 + 500 + 120 HDDs
plextor premium cd-rw, plextor px-800a

Check my web page, CD-DVD section, for info on how to troubleshoot filter drivers.

have you tried different/new blanks? For some reason my LITEON won't burn to the last 2 DVDs that was in my pack. Keeps saying its not a valid disc. New disc's solved that one for me.

ok well this might not have been the problem but its made them start working again for me. I right-clicked on my DVD drive in My Computer. Clicked on the 'Recording' tab. And put a tick in the box that said: "Enable CD recording on this drive". And since then its worked again. I have no idea how it got unticked though!

In would be interesting to see what happens with filter drivers when that checkbox is checked vs. unchecked.
