Question DVD drive not open tray

My Samsung DVD drive does not open the tray Is it possible to repair it without opening the drive fully? it only opens with a needle or wire and for it to close I need to touch the tray after pressing the button
 
Have you tried both "buttons"? The physical one and the "right click and eject" one?
I used to have a player that would only eject through the software button.
 
Are both the data and power cables fully seated on both ends? I would try reseating the cables at the drive/motherboard then the drive/power supply.

There is probably a rubber drive belt for the tray motor. It may need to be replaced. You can usually find universal belt kits for a few dollars.
