DVD drive hiccuping while playing movies

I own a fairly new DVD drive that is always hiccuping while playing DVD movies. It doesn't seem
to matter what software I use when playing the movies, it always stumbles.
I'm using WinXP (SP1) and either PowerDVD with my GF3Ti200 and XP1800+ on a MSI nForce board.
Any suggestions for debugging this?

Thanks!

well your hardware seems to be fine.. what type of dvd drive do you have? maybe your dvd drive is the culprit..

It's some no name drive on special at CompUSA. I've check the DMA, it's set to Ultra DMA Mode 2.

I suspect it's a crappy drive, any suggestions for a replacement that is easy on the wallet?
