Alright new comer here.
Anyways, I bought an ASUS Desktop a couple months back and it's been working fairly fine, but now I try to put in PC-DVD Games and the drive doesn't read it and it just makes some weird noises. CD's work, but DVD's don't, help please. :)
Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64)
Intel Core 2 Quad
@ 2.50 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 220GT

If the driver has become corrupted, you may be able to fix it by deleting it from Device Manager, rebooting and letting Windows re-install it. Either click on it and select "uninstall," or just right click on it and delete it.

If that doesn't work, the drive may have failed.

Good luck. :)

Alright I did what you said, and rebooted and it still does the same thing. Is my drive even a DVD/R drive?

Your device manager shows it as a DVD burner, which suggests it is. I searched Google for DH20A6S and DH-20A6S. Your drive appears to be a rebadged LiteOn burner, possibly model iHAS120.

I believe (not 100% sure) that CD/DVD burners use different lasers for CD's and DVD's because DVD laser must focus on a much tighter area. It's possible that one is working and the other is not.

You can test it by plugging the drive into another computer. If the same thing happens, you know that's the problem.

Don't spend too much time on it. You can probably replace a DVD burner for around $25.

Its more than likely dead. My Aopen cdrw/dvd-rom did that after a few years.. my NEC dvd burner still worked, so I didnt bother to look it up... It was horrible anyway.

Just get a cheap Samsung or Sony/NEC DVD burner.
