DVD drive has disappeared

Hi forum, I just recently built a new system thanks mostly to this site. I was my first build and all seemed well. Then I started installing all the drives and additional software that came with the products. At some point my DVD RW stopped showing up in MY COMPUTER. Here are my computer specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+
ASUS k8NE deluxe
1 gig Corair value select CAS 2.5
160 gig Seagate 7200.7 with NCQ
NEC 3500A DVD RW
Lite ON DVD/CDRW combo SHOC
Samsung Floppy
EVGA 6800
SLK3700BQE updated powersupply 21A on 12V

When I first got the computer running everything was working fine. Here is other info

BIOS sees the drive and the light comes on at boot up.

Device Manager sees the drive but it has a red X through it. Says the device is disabled Code 22

System info puts the device in the problem devices section under components.

I don't mind taking any steps as long as I can get this thing reenabled!

edit -- when I try the enable device button it says Windows is unable to enable this device

well you could try this;

remove drive, delete entry in system properties, reboot, then power off, and reattach drive and see it will find itself.

Do a search of DVD, upper, lower, filter and dclive and you'll see my posts in how to resolve this - basically you need to go into the registry to the Class key and there's a DVD/CD subkey under that - you need to disable the upper and lower filter values.
