hello, i was just wondering if dvd discs could be used to hold or store data other than video files. thank you

Yes, a little over 4 GB of data files, or about 6 full CD-R discs worth.

People here like the NEC 3500a burner, it costs about $70 if bought with burning software instead of as a bare drive.
