Hi people

Am having a DVD nightmare here, was hoping for some help please

I have two problems.

1. DVD drive, works fine with CDs but DVDs for games aren't recognised, the light flashes for quite a while but they never autoload and windows thinks there is no disk in the drive. I have on occasion got them to work, but its now impossilble. (there are no scratchs or marks on the disks).

2. I mounted a SCSI DVDdrive (virtual) with some software ages ago... I forgot to unmount and have since uninstalled the software but its left this useless virtual drive, whats the best way to remove it? Unistall through device manager does not work. Wether this is causing the first problem or not I don't know.

My system is a KD7-Raid XP2800, the DVD drive is a budget 16x and is the only device on my primary IDE channel. My secondary IDE channel has my CDRW on its one all connected with round ata100 cables. Harddrives are RAID but I doubt thats got anything to do with this.

Thanks for any help ;)

sounds like a busted drive to me, my advice, go out and pick up a REAL brand drive, they aren't that expensive, check out newegg.com, get like a sony or a samsung, great drives
