Get a Hollywood + decoder card, it is the same as a Dxr3 and is typically cheaper.

i've used the hollywood+ before and it's a kickass card, but there IS a major degragation in image quality in windows when you're using the card. i had to swap the cables everytime i wanted to use the card, it was really lame. but if i didn't swap that cards i couldn't read text in windows at 1280x1024, so if you watch a lot of movies you could be going through a major hassle.

Oh wow Zero, I didn't realize the Holly+ used daisy chain like the pre-Voodoo3 3Dfx cards used. That definitely causes distortion at high resolutions. Ack, thanks for the warning I was about to get one :T

All DVD decoder cards using analog overlay (Creative Dxr2, Creative Dxr3, and all Hollywood cards) use the passthrough cable and have the distortion at higher resolution problem. The only DVD card that comes to mind that does not use a passthrough cable is Creative's PCDVD Inlay card. Too bad it has a poor picture and crappy software.

My advice is get a standalone DVD player or use software decoding. I actually thought softwared decoding looked better than hardware decoding on the monitor.

you may just have to wait until they fix the problem. 3dfx card never had a problem with distortions, such as the Voodoo2 or classic Voodoo1 even. i returned my hollywood+ because i couldn't stand it, i even had a remote for it i had to sell off.

waiting for a card that fixes the distortion problem, until then well it's back to PowerDVD =D ain't nothin' wrong with that! =)

Voodoo cards did not use overlay, the output from the regular video card was disabled all together when the Voodoo was in use. I'll bet analog overlay with DVD decoder cards will never be perfected, just use software decoding.
