DVD couldn't play

Hi,

I have HP Pavillion 9600 with Pioneer DVD-114. It runs on Windows 98SE.

The device manager recognizes the player, but when I tried to play the DVD movies, it didn't work. It worked at least a month ago and suddenly it died.

Would someone give me any recommendations?

I tried to reinstalled the player softwares and new softwares, but nothing worked. I tried interactual player, powerdvd, but ...

What is the nature of the problem? Does the drive function at all? Can it play Audio CD's or can you browse CD-ROMs?

I once had a DVD drive go out on me. I noticed it stopped playing burned CD's and DVD's, but it still recognized store bought audio CD's and cdroms. Strange.

I don't know what happened, but after I reinstalled the oem player again, it worked now for all the software.
