I don't know what is going on with my DVD/CDROM drive... It is slower than Christmas! It takes like 20x as long to do ANYTHING as it should. It's only moving at .01x speed I think.

I have DMA enabled... There's no settings to change that I can think of. GAH!

It's an NEC DVD-RW 2500A
Mobo is A7N8X-E

Just reinstalled Windows just the other day... got all the latest drivers and all.

ANyone have a clue as to why this drive is so slow? It hardly spins up at all.

It says "85 minutes remaining" just to copy a cd to the hard drive. :(

Secondary Master. All alone.

I think it's just going to be an RMA on the bastard.... I share the drive on my other machine and can install/copy at blazing normal speed.

Really sucks... seems like it used to be faster. Don't really know though as I haven't had this gear very long. Only a few weeks.

I might try the drive in another machine ans see what it does...

Really sucks, the thing barely spins up at all... I even tried switching to PIO mode. Even slower. :p

GAH! Believe it or not, it was a crappy DLL in Nero that I installed last night that did it.

I replaced the DLL and it's working right now.

Thank God for Google! :)
