DVD/CD-Writer Probs - Win2000

I have a Pioneer 6x DVD drive and an HP 8100 CD-ReWriter. They both seem to work fine in Win2000 and in device manager are both there as they should be. However, sometimes when looking through a disc in explorer on either drive, files dont appear!!!!!

I have a dual boot with Win98, and they both work perfectly there!

Is this a known problem or is it just me??
