Hello everyone. I ran into a problem during my first attempt at building a new PC last night and i'm hoping someone can give me a hand.
I was able to use my combo drive to completely load windows XP pro... multiple reboots and everything was fine. Windows came up and life was good. I then started to load some of the drivers that came with my equipment. Again, no problems. However, after i finished loading my mobo drivers i rebooted and when the system came back up, windows would not recognize that i had a CD\DVD drive installed!
Some info
+ I can put a disk into it, and i can hear the device spin up but nothing will show on screen
+ It doesn't exist in My Computer or Device manager
+ I've checked the cables and they all seem to be connected.
+ I haven't installed any burning software yet - just the very basic XP stuff (brand new clean install)
+ I haven't changed anything yet in my bios... it is at its default config.
+ I don't have any floppies installed. Just the DVD\CD drive and S-ATA HD. Funny thing is that windows thinks that i have a floppy drive.
I'm wondering if maybe i need to check the jumpers or something?? (it is at the default out of the box). Maybe i need to do something in bios? (if so then why did it recognize it in the first place?)
Thanks everyone, i really (really) appreciate it.
