DVD Camcorder recommendations

My sister wants to get a DVD Camcorder. I know nothing about them and neither does she.

I don't think she wants to spend more than $400 for one, which really limits what she can get (i did some looking earlier). i checked reviews out on several and they all pretty much get crappy reviews.

so what should she get?

DON'T. If you use non-Sony media in a Sony one, it will eat the disc, you'll have no way to get it out, and you'll have to send it in for repair - where they can and WILL void your warranty for using a non-Sony disc.

They are slow. The image quality is terrible. There is virtually no way to edit. There is virtually no way to transfer to any other media for any reason.

Do NOT buy one. Buy a REAL camcorder (MiniDV) instead. For less money, you'll get WAY more camera, and a format that isn't broken. Or even a VHS-C camcorder. It'll look better, and you can pop it in the tape converter and play it on any VCR.
