DVD Burning with Nero, takes 2-3 times longer than estimate

Ritek G04 Media, Pioneer DVR-106D burner. Nero 6.

When I burn at 4X, say a 2.5 GB file, it says it'll take x minutes (say 7.5 minutes). So it has elapsed time and time remaining. When time remaining reaches 0 and elapsed time reaches 7.5 mins, it still is only partially done with the burn. It goes on for another 15-20 minutes then finishes.

The DVD-R's come out just fine but why is it wasting my time like this?

It sounds like it's burning it at 2X, for some reason. On my DRU510A, a completely full disk takes 15minutes tops at 4X.

That's what it sounds like to me as well. Could it be that somehow it's not feeding the drive data fast enough, so it downgrade itself to 2X? If that is the case, shouldn't it say 2X then?

Do you have it set to verify the burn data?
