DVD Burning Survey

I have no clue what's what. I will wait until I can take a movie, pop it into my DVD drive, and make a backup copy of it that will work on all DVD players.

🙂

there will always be more than one. there is no standard set, and therefore at least two formats will survive. unless one gets to be as cheap as CD-R's, i'm waiting for the next technology that has a widely accepted standard.

What was CD-R's other standard?

I got it for $270(that includes tax and no PM) So far, so good. 🙂

mine's a 2.4X DVD+RW. Not sure what standard is going to come out on top... I don't think anyone knows at the moment.

No, they're too expensive and too slow.
There have been deals on DVD-R drives in HD forum for like $160 AR :Q. Too slow? I can burn a full disk in like 20-25 minutes. That's not bad for 4.7GB IMO.

Pioneer DVR-105 in my PC and a 1x DVD-R in my PowerBook.

I love having all of my MP3 on 23 DVD-R's instead of countless CD-Rs. Same with my 2 Family Guy DVDs, instead of tons of CD-Rs.

Now that is a lot of MP3s.

I don't give a fsck which format survives, as long as there's an easy way for me to burn from my computer and watch it on my DVD player. I'm not completely talking about DVD copying, I'm also talking about movies I take with my camcorder or if I want to make a slide show with my camera.

I'm waiting until the format wars are completely over and there's only one left, then I'll pick one up. I hate being on the bleeding edge then having my choice die out. I got nailed with that during the CD burner wars back in the day.
