DVD Burning? (OMG I need help)

I need some help with the copying of a DVD. I recently purchased a Memorex DVD+R+RW burner. I have utilized my resources to aquire a dvd movie I want to make a "back-up" copy of. I understand that real dvd's are a different type of media called DVD9. They have more space and therefore burning to a DVD+R would require at least two discs. Hopefully I am correct so far. I have tried 3 programs (DVDX COPY, Nero, and Alcohol 120%"makes from an image")to accomplish this task and have been outwitted thus far. I am trying to obtain a copy of DVD95, would this help my cause at all? I have a jumbled mess of questions so here it goes. Can you purchase DVD9 media? Would that media be capable of being burnt on my current +r+rw burner, or is there a bigger difference than just storage size? Which program is best for burning dvds on a +r burner, or if that matters? Would a firmware upgrade make using different media possible. Is there a double sided +r media available? Are their Double sided players for entertainment centers available? Does anyone know of a place that has the cheapest media? Not all of these a extremely important questions, just those that make burning possible for me. Thanks in advance 🙂

Stick with dvdxcopy. it will split the movie into two discs if necessary.

your current burner will not use DVD9 media!

thanks I appreciate the input keep it coming! I wanna use X COpy but it has some issues recognising my burner. I'm gonna upgrade the firmware on the burner and hopefully it will fix it. But I'm still at a loss for the time being.
