I'm planning to get a DVD burner for my PC since there seems to be more PC software that's coming out on DVD, and my current CD drive is way too loud. I'm wondering if there is any burning software available for XP that lets you mount and burn Mac disk images (.img, .dmg and the like)? I looked at the externals, but most of them are USB 2.0 and not firewire, and at the prices I see them going for, it looks like I'd almost save money if I bought an internal burner for each machine.

OSX will read .ISO's so you could make it ISO and later convert it to .DMG on the Mac. There is a Command you execute in the Terminal that converts back and forth. I have made DMG's and converted to ISO for my PC's. If you want to make an Image that you can read on the PC make a DMG then run the command and convert it to ISO. I will find the command you type in the terminal and post it here later. My memory is playing tricks on me and I can't remember it.

Found it.

Bring up the command prompt (known as the Terminal) and type:

hdiutil convert /path/to/filename.dmg -format UDto -o /path/to/savefile.iso
