DVD Burning Issues

Hopefully this is the right forum for this question...

I just bought my first DVD burner (LG GSA 4120B - DL) and so far I haven't had any luck getting it to work.

No matter what kind of data I'm trying to burn (either an image, an authored DVD project, or just backup data), it almost always stalls after writing the lead-in or TOC. I have had some very limited success - 2 data DVDs, one video DVD and a bunch of CD-Rs.

The real problem is that it seems to hang something in the system nearly every time I try to do a burn. I can't cancel the project or exit the program. A hard reboot is the only way to stop things.

I've tried Nero 6 and Roxio burning programs and have tried 2 different kinds of DVD-R media. I have also exchanged the drive once and the new one has a newer build date.

The burner is a brand new model, the LG GSA 4120B (DL) with up-to-date firmware. The system is a Shuttle with 2.4Ghz plenty of ram, XP Pro, etc.

I'm stumped here. Any ideas??

Many thanks!

Only time I have had problems with a DVD burner is when having it set to Disk at Once. Once I decided to try Track at Once, it worked fine. My other two burners work fine with Disk at Once.

Don't know if it was related, but my first two were DVD-R, and the drive that gave me problems was using DVD+RW
