Does anyone know who makes the Lacie external (USB2) DVD burners? I'm specifically interested in the Lacie 300981U model (16x multiformat with lightscribe)

Also, what is the bundled software? Nero? Roxio? I can't make it out from the photo.

FWIW, their bare drive is Samsung - the external drive has the same drawer front on it... If you looked carefully at the pix gallery on Newegg, you'd know that the software is Roxio.

Always better and often cheaper to build your own external box. Then you know what you have. Even if you have to pay for an OEM burning software.

Of these enclosures/external dvds, which are quiet (<50dBa)? I have a Bytecc enclosure for an external hard drive and it (its fan, in particular) it is LOUD - 60-70 dB.
