DVD+R/RW

Read some of the FAQs and comparasions. I was considering a -R drive before, but now I'm leaning towards the +R standard. Drives and media are cheaper to boot.

No offense but I don't think the homepage of the "+" format is exactly the best place to get a straight answer on the "+/-" format fight going on. ;)

I want to get the Liteon +-RW Burner since I have no idea which media is better, so why not have both.

His "friend" created the image which he "borrowed" and then burnt to a DVD.

I just bought a +R/RW drive a few weeks ago. The -R media is cheaper and a little more compatible with DVD players. However, the market seems to be going in the +R direction, although both formats will probably be around for a while. The drive ended up being around $100, so I got a good deal even if the +R format dies in a couple years.

Backed up Jungle Book 2 & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles yesterday:D

The external burn engine (using Nero doesn't work well) is screwing up, went with the built in drivers in DVD X Copy & it worked fine, just a little slower...

For all the masses +R media is a hell of a lot more expensive that -R.... +R media runs about $1.45 for a +R disc and -R runs $.75..... BTW that starwars sel is quite old ;)

Why is everyone so cheap when it comes to this kind of stuff? The movie on DVD is probably about $14 in stores. Not only that, but DVD burners can burn about 5GB worth of data, right? $1.45 for 5GB of data is cheaper than a CD-R. What's the big deal?

I have been considering getting one for a while now, but I still don't think that they are worth the money yet. Where I live the media is priced pretty high.. $5-$10 Canadian per disc. I am waiting for faster burners / cheaper media to come out before I buy one

Correct me if I am wrong?

Whoa, has this been a new development? Because for the last couple of years, -R media has always been much cheaper.

Around here the - drives are still usually significantly cheaper. Media is getting pretty close now though.
