I'm currently looking at picking up a DVD burner and was curious to what my fellow ATOT members own or are looking at purchasing.

Apple Superdrive here (DVD-R)

Watching a burned copy of Lilo & Stitch as I post.
(My OWN LEGAL copy mind you)

Surprised to see it works great on my Xbox

How about an option of: don't plan on buying until prices are lower?

Until I can buy at least a 24x for $50 after coupon, PM and rebate I'm not buying.

Learned my lesson I paid $200 for a Plextor 12/10/32A back when it was king.

I don't plan on buying one till I can get all the current technologies (whever is current at the time) in one drive, like CD-RW.

So the Sony drive would be a likely choice notfred?

Shoooot ... you think thats bad? I paid $135 after tax for my 2x HP IDE CD-R back in the day when I was 15 ... put 2 paychecks into it 😀.

Paid $179 for a 6x Burner.....still works at least.

BTW: The Burner speed of DVD is different each 1x is about equal to 9x on a cd burner. So a 4x DVD is equal to 36x on a Cd burner.

Burn speed

1.0x = 60 minutes
2.0x = 30 minutes
2.4x = 25 minutes
4.0x = 15 minutes

remember this is 4.7 gigs of data being burned!

I have the DRU500a and just bought a second DRU500ax for $315 shipped and have to say for what I do they are definately wrth it!🙂
