It's the right time if you have the need to burn 4gb backups.
Personally, I don't have that much stuff that's important.
And you'll probably never use 90% of that after it gets burned.Originally posted by: vi_edit

I've got some games that I don't play very often that are just sitting in flat directories that can be copied and pasted from cd to pc that are taking up about 45 gigs worth of space...it'd be nice to dump them off to disk and archive for later use.

I just recieved a Hewlett Packard DVD300i for christmas, but I haven't tried out burning a DVD yet... I want to get a better burning program, the software they give you is crap.
I was thinking about picking up
DVD XCopy Platinum
or
Nero 6
Anyone have a recommendations?

bought one last week. paid $130 for a tdk 8x ±R/RW (plextor 708a), and i am satisfied with my purchase. burns a dvd in 8 minutes. rips it to the hard drive in like 20-25 minutes. dual-layers are coming, but its going to be pricey, and the technology wont be quick off the bat (sony is already showing off their dual-layer for a projected april release. but it burns at 2.4x. 2.4x for 8.5 gb's? eep.) so, for $130, i figure it'll last me well until the dual-layers are at a higher speed and media is reasonbly priced.

you would be correct.Originally posted by: NightCrawler
16x is probably the fastest they will go with currently technology. Kinda like how CD-R ended at 52x.
