DVD burner writing speed

I have a HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4164B from LG. As i've read in the description of the burner it says that maximum writing speed for DVD-R is 16x. Im aware of it cuz I used to burn disc in that speed. But suddenly when i wanted to change the writing speed it shows me that i can only burn at 2x.

Did you tried to update the firmware of your dvd burner? Or even to try with another brand (is that word correct? sorry for my english, but i'm spanish) of dvd's?

No pro.. if you have any comments in spanish you can do them. If someone can help me finding the firmware upgrade i would be pleased...

Can anyone help me the firmware for my dvd burner.
Puede alguien ayudarme a encontrar el firmware de mi quemador DVD

I updated the firmware to it last version but im having the same burning problem. The burner is working but i cant change the speed

Another question. Im checking some dvds to test my burner. I once bought a bucket of 50 cds and thats when i discover the problem. But now im testing the cds and with some of them the software lets me change the burning speed and with some others dont. Even if they are labeled with 1-16x some aren't able to be burned more than 2x.. Can someone tell me why??
