DVD Burner Trouble

I have a NuTech-082 dual dvd write, but when I burn a cd it doesn't apparently didn't write anything. I am using the newest firmware B373. When I put the disk in, it either doesn't open or opens to a black screen. I was using Nero 6.3.0.3 so I am baffled. If it helps it was just a DVD-R, I burned it in DVD-ROM(ISO) format with no relaxed settings. It was a real write too, not a simulated one.
