DVD Burner: "Track Following Error"

Ok, here's the deal. I have an Optorite DD203. I updated the firmware to 2.50, then went back to 2.30. (Everything listed below, I have tried with both firmwares to test, but still experience problems.) I have tried different kinds of media, and no go....including media that ALWAYS worked in my older system. I'm getting strange issues. When burning normally, I get the error "Track Following Error."

I put the drive in a new system. It was working just fine in my old computer. But ever since I put it in this new machine, it doesn't work. (400sc)

As Nero suggests here, I have tried different media, and my power supply is sufficient. (This is a Dell 400sc with a pretty good/stable power supply.)

I have enabled DMA, but in Windows it says "Current Status: PIO", and I don't know how to make that persistent. I tried uninstalling the IDE Channel, and letting Windows redetect it, but it's a no go.

I burned a movie a little while ago at a slower speed, but that won't play in any DVD drives (Where they used to.) But no error message. Anything at the normal speed, 4x, gives me this message. And when they burn, I don't do anything else on the computer for now while testing. I used to be able to surf, and do everything with my older system.

Any ideas?

Thanx in advance.

EDIT: The drive is the Slave. Any thing I should change here or try?

Try setting the drive up as Master. Also, under Ide Controllers in Device Manager, Right clik the controller, and I believe its properties/advanced, to enable Dma.

I had the same problem with my Optorite DD203 drive. I RMA'ed my drive, fixed the problem.

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to have to do. The only problem is that I can't find the receipt for the place I bought it. (I think it was NewEgg, but they don't have any record of it in my account.) So, if I can't find my receipt....I'm funked.
