Hey I am not lazy and I usually search for my own information, as I am pressed for time and resources I am hoping someone will be kind and help me out.

I am putting together a new pc and I am going to include a dvd burner, as this will be my first one do I need a second drive to get decent copy times for burning movies and such. We have a huge dvd collection and 2 got ruined because of carelessness so I want the peeps in the house to use copies instead of the original. My question is for best burning speed do I buy

1. dvd burner, 1 cdrw/dvd combo unit?

or just 1. dvd burner

my basic question is do I need a second drive to get good burn speeds and what should that second drive be.

In advance thank you very much for any help you can give me I have been building computers for a long time just never messed with dvd burners yet, but now I need to, thanks again. Jay.

Get a BenQ DW1640

Maybe get a DVD-ROM for ripping & playing if you want a second drive.
Really though, just one drive is fine, unless you want to play & rip simultaneously, etc.

i have a dvd-rom drive and a dvd+rw

since i copy some of my cd's as backups, i sometimes need two drives for the convenience. but one drive should do me good.

also i like to put game cds in the dvd-rom drive. to me its a bit quieter and runs a bit quicker.

you can get a lite-on dvd-rom drive for about $20, either beige or black. they make great drives
