just wondering
If I burn data (such as mp3s) into a dvd-rw, can it be read from another computer that doesn't have a dvd burner?

You shouldn't need a DVD Burner to read the data, but you will need a DVD-ROM drive.

By the way, welcome to the forums. :)

I see, so it will be able to transfer the mp3s (not just read) from the dvd-rw to the computer using the dvd-rom drive, right?

Just registered today :) didnt think i'd receive a response so quickly. It's kind of funny seeing me with 1 post and then you with 5000+ posts. lol

You can burn the mp3s in DVD format so you get the mondo giant 4 gigs of mem out of that little disc however you can't read/ play or do anything with them unless you are using a DVD-ROM, DVD Player, or your DVD-RW.

They can. I tested this with my JVC dvd player, which plays MP3's. The problem with my player is it can only see x number of songs per folder, and a set number of folders. So I cannot take full advantage of the space since my settop dvd player will not see them all. A better DVD player would probably fair much better...

Ok, one last quick question... is there any difference between dvd-r and dvd-rw, concerning being read on a dvd-rom? What I mean is, will I (using my dvd-rom) be able to read DVD-RW. My brother said that maybe it can only read DVD-Rs...not DVD-RWs. Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.
