The other day I tried to burn a DVD, but got a "power calibration error" in Nero before I could write anything to the DVD. CDs still burn and DVDs read, but I suddenly can't burn a DVD. I've tried other programs and I've used this media before? Do I have to suck it up and get a new burner?

Believe it or not, i have seen a corrupt install of ASPI cause the problem. Go to adaptec.com and get aspi 4.72 and see if that helps

Thanks so much for that, I had basically assumed adaptec aspi drivers were a thing of the past, but that fixed everything. Changing the firmware didn't help, but this worked like a charm.

Edit: I spoke too soon, it now works sometimes, but still not most of the time. At least DVD burners are cheap.
