DVD Burner or DVD Burner and DVD player, which is preferable?

I have a new DVD Burner, should I just use it by itself? Or use a player and do a disk to disk copy? Advantages, disadvantages?

I had both in my set-up and rarely used them @ the same time as movies do not back-up disc to disc unless they are homemade. I took 1 out cause if I want to fill my DVD Burner up I just make a DVD folder on my HD then copy...

you cant do commercial dvd disc>disc copies as they are dvd-9 format and dvdr/rw that you can buy are dvd4 or someething like that...

commercial dvd=9.4gb or something
dvdr/rw=4.7gb

hte only thing you can do is rip the movie itself out of the commercial dvd and burn that to dvdr/rw and have the xtras and stuff on another disc
