DVD Burner not recognized in Nero

I purchased a BenQ dw1620 burner a few weeks ago. I recently realized that in Nero I do not have the option to write to the cd dirve, only as an image. I can however burn with the basic burn utility XP offers. I tried other software and had the same problem I had with Nero and this problem icludes not being able to burn onto a CD-R as well. I have no idea what the problem could be... Thanks for any help in advance.

Do you have adminstrator rights?

Download the latest update to Nero. You may be using an older version that doesn't recognize the drive.

It's my personal machine so yes, I am the admin. I will try a updated version of Nero, I attempted this with Nero 6 though.
