I need to know what is the format that is most likely to work in newer DVD standalone units....

Then recommend a brand for me....

I think I remember seeing a Fyres ad for a DVD burner that could play all formats...Any ideas on the name of that brand???

My goal will be to author dvd movies from my camcorder movies and/or from my video capturing off of the TV.....

SONY and NEC both have DVD Burners that support +RW/R and -RW/R. Currently they are the only companies with dual media drives.

Correct me if I'm wrong someone...but -RW/R is better for set-top players, but +RW/R is faster.

I don't get why many set top DVD players can't read DVD+RW, it has the same reflectiveness as a dual layered DVD. And if you set the identity bit to DVD-ROM shouldn't it work (heck I had to do this to get my computer to read it since the firmware didn't recognize DVD+RW)?
