DVD burner fails when burning DL discs

Yes I know Lite-On drives suck. No need to answer the problem with that

I've had the drive for a while and everything worked perfectly but now I have a weird problem with the drive. It used to be able to burn DVD+R DL discs fine but now I've had 4 in a row fail. I think it writes the first layer and has problem going onto the second one. Still burns fine to DVD+R and RWs. Time for a new drive?
Has the latest firmware (KS0B) and I'm burning using Nero 7. Its in an external enclosure if that makes a difference.

Haven't you test a different software? Nero 7 has a lot of bugs and problem (not stable.)

I have used it to burn DL discs in the past and haven't changed anything recently. Does the builtin burning in XP support DL discs?
