DVD Backups

Hey, I decided to partake on that rule that you are allowed to make one backup of each dvd you own. I am doing this, and wanted to know if there was a site somewhere that had the image on the physical DVD to put onto a label, so itll look like the origional. I think I remember seeing it in the past, but cant seem to find it now. Anyone know? And I dont have a scanner, so thats out

I read that putting a label on a DVD is a bad idea because if it is not *perfectly* balanced, the DVD is prone to damage.

Overtime it can bubble and what not, but I think that's being pedantic. I would love to have a printer that can print directly on DVDs though, then there would be no concern.

do they make such printers? I thought i remember seeing one somewhere, if they do, how much $$$

The Epson R200 and R300 models can print directly on CDs and DVDs. You just have to get the media with the printable tops. The R200 runs about $100 and the R300 is abou $150.

oh, not all media has printable tops? I have some cheap AVB discs where the top of the DVD looks like the bottom of a normal CD, Sliver, Will a basic Label work on that?

I just use a Sharpie to label my backups and burnt CDs. If I care enough to know what order the tracks on a particular disc are, I print out a text file fitted to a slipcover.

Why not just scan it, or take a digital picture of it? 😕
