DVD Backup software?

I just spent the last several days looking for just what you are asking. I tried 4-5 free programs including DVDShrink and DVD Decrypter. All either didn't work for me, or were just more complicated than I wanted to bother with. I ended up using AnyDVD with CloneDVD to burn. The two programs work nearly seamlessly together....It just doesn't get any easier than this.

Both programs have free trial periods so you can try em out. If you want to do some serious editing, or tweak your rip for maximum quality regardless of how time consuming or complicated, then these are not for you. But if you want the easiest method to make simple DVD backups, go to the guide
HERE.

Are you talking about data or css movies or home video or what? For CSS movies I recommend dvdshrink with AutoShrinkISO. All free and it's a one-click solution.

I assume your comment refers to my post since it appears not to apply to any other.

I you read my post, I never indicated that I could not figure out DVD Shrink, nor was DVD Shrink one of the programs that didn't work for me. I mearly stated that some were more complicated than I wanted to bother with. Much more complicated?....no, not really.

Why do I think AnyDVD/CloneDVD is an easier alternative? Well, if for no other reason I am a complete newb to DVD burning. I found some of the other programs/guides to be a bit vauge with regards to settings and this left me guessing on a few things. AnyDVD/CloneDVD was so simple, with basically default settings, that a guide to use it is almost not required. I simply went with what worked best for ME and offered my opinion...something which you did not do.

If you are such a DVD burning superstar, then offer the man some advice. Go kick your f@#king dog for fun and leave me alone!

Was thinking of something that would allow me to make a backup of a DvD movie that I purchased, if that is possible.

I have Roxio Easy CD 5 and Sonic MyDVD to create DVDs, but from what I can see, there is no way to make a movie backup.

What does CSS mean?

thanks :)

I have a dvdshrink backup guide here and there's tons of others
dvdshrink guide
It's in flash so it'll walk you through the process. It's easy to get started after you read a few guides. It can be overwhelming at first.

You're a troll. Why do you gotta pull low punches like that?

of course it didn't work for you because ...

" I never indicated that I could not figure out DVD Shrink, nor was DVD Shrink one of the programs that didn't work for me. "

before that .. All either didn't work for me, or were just more complicated than I wanted to bother with.

gotta figure out which one it is.

eh .. if you wanna use the 21 day trial app and not a FREEWARE app, that's up to you. Poster above me linked how to Backup a DVD with DVD Shrink.

I am sorry Sid, but I am still unsure by your last post if the original comment you made...

if you can't figure out dvd shrink ... that's a problem ..

was directed at my original post? I still don't see where it would apply to MrBass's post. Am I wrong?

yes for long movies I use dvd2dvd with cce for best quality. It's movie only though but worth it for your good flicks like Gladiator for instance. dvd2dvd

Okay, what if you have a video file that is already in an *.avi or *.mpg format and you want to burn it onto a DVD and expand it so that it can be played on any DVD player (PC or home entertainment centre)?

Would the mentioned programs allow for that to happen, or would I need something to expand them and change the format?

cheers :)

ps,
mrbass i loved the flash tutorial for newbies for dvdshrink :)
