DVD Audio / Set Top DVD players / Recording............. Questions

Are there any set top dvd players that are able to play "MP3's" encoded onto a dvd disc ? I know some play dvd audio but not sure of the MP3 status .

Also ............ Can you record cd audio onto dvd discs & play on any set top dvd players ?

One more question ............... The current dvd write speed is 2.4x (?) Will we see this speed jump considerably this year ?

There are many DVD set top players that will play mp3s and cdrs, and now you see them able to play DVD recordables too. If it can read a DVD recordable and able to play mp3s, then it should be able to play a DVD disc of mp3s, the only thing is the play list might not be easy to configure with so much info. I would expect the playlist when using a DVD would only show you a certain amount of selections and then it would just play the rest, not letting you select them. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to play cd audio off of a DVD disc.
