DVD as primary master?

I've got three HDs and one DVD-RW, and I have a hard time making the stupid IDE cables reach..

would this work:

primary master: DVD-RW
primary slave: primary HD (windows)
secondary channel: the other two hds

?

Why not just get a long rounded IDE cable?

I would put the primary HDD (Windows) as master on a different cable to the DVDRW, and then have the other 2 as secondaries.

configure the jumper on the hdd as master and the dvd-rw as slave.
