DVD and CD. Sound from DVD?

I should have researched this first myself, but...both my CD-Rom and DVD have a cable to plug into the sound card. I've got the 4-pin cable going from the CD-Rom.

I connected the thin "Digital Audio" cable to the DVD, but I don't think I am getting any audio signals on that line.

Does anyone know how to wire this so that I get sound from both sources to my SB Live!? There is probably an Auxilliary port I could plug into. Would this work?

Surely some of you power-users have both a CD-Rom and a DVD???? How do you get sound from both?

I have a SB Live ! 1024, a DVD-ROM, and a cd-writer. I did exactly what you hinted at in your first post, i connected the cd writers audio cable into the auxilliary plug on the live. works fine.
