Hi ladies/gentlemen,
All of a suddent my CD-R Drive and DVD Drive both stopped working. When I go into "my computer" it doesn't show either of the two drives anymore. When I go into DEVICE MANAGER it shows that both of the drives are there, but they both have a yellow circle with a black exclamation mark on them and when I right click on the devices to see what that exclamation mark means, it says...
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
I uninstalled both of the drives, by just right clicking and clicking on "uninstall" and then after I uninstalled, I went into add new hardware to reinstall, and XP detected both of them...but while installing it says...
"A problem occurred while installing your new hardware. Might not work properly."
I thought it might be a virus so I installed Norton System Works 2002 on my computer, but that didn't seem to fix the problem either. When I looked in the bios, both drives were detected as well, so I think everything is hooked up properly because I haven't really messed with any hardware in the computer recently.
Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mike
