DVD-5 vs DVD-9

Hey guys,

I want to make a backup of a DVD-Video that I own using DVD-shrink. Like most DVD-Videos, it is a dual layered format. Just wondering if I would notice any difference in quality if I set the output format to DVD-5 ( single layer) instead of DVD-9 ( dual layer).

My DVD player is broken so I'll mostly be viewing the DVD on my old 15-inch monitor.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

I have backed up all of my DVDs to single layer discs. At max compression that Shrink will allow, there is some degradation. I always back up the movie only (no previews, foreign languages, etc.) so that there is little or no compression on most movies. Google the app Ripit4Me. It and a couple of other free downloads mentioned on the page will make it easy.
