dv6t quad edition Gaming question

Hello All,

I am ordering a HP Pavilion dv6t quad edition customization laptop. I am going to use it primarily for gaming. Below is the specs.

The only thing that i am going for this is my budget of $1000. It is costing me $1023.00 (with tax, free shipping).

I could not find a more capable laptop at this price range.

My questions
1. is it capable of playing BF3, skyrim, Farcry, Crysis 2, HL 2..(there are other games but these are my starters..:biggrin🙂 in high resolution. 1080P??

2. is it capable to withstand up and coming games of 2012?

3.is there any laptop better than this, within this price tag?

4. There was no option to upgrade the video card.Heck..HP doesnot eve mention the card details at all..i would have liked a 6750m atleast. Is there anyway to upgrade it?? can i ask hp to upgrade..if yes..how ??

the 6770 is better than the 6750 so... i'm confused.

it's one of the better notebook options and unless you're willing to hire a sherpa to lug your portable computer around you won't get better.

@ElFenix: My bad.. That is a typo..I was referring to 6850m..or higher...Yeah..you are correct about the weight..7 lbs..🙄

Anything below a 6970M won't run anything on high, laptop chips are about the equivalents of the next lower demeanor of their desktop name buddies.

AKA, a 6770M is probably the equivalent of an HD 6750 which won't run jack (specially BF3) no where near 1080p at low settings.

For a gaming laptop with those capabilities, you're looking at $1500 minimum.

For that price, you can build a monster desktop.

@RavenSEAL: will hp upgrade the video card if i ask them to?? but i dont know where to check it?

i don't think hp has a better video card that'll work with that system. the 6770 is it. now, if new cards come out in the next month and hp starts offering a 7770 with the dv6t it may be possible that the new one would work in yours. the 7690 used in the envy series is basically the same card with a slight bump in mhz (if any).

performance wise you can probably expect about the following:
http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/The-Ne...600M-Graphics-for-New-ENVY-Laptops/ba-p/75939
(interesting how much better the XT part looks, not sure why that is)

hmmm...At $1023.00, As far as i can check this is the best i can get..not what i want but thats what i have....

One more question: i will be needing a coolerpad for this..any suggestions<= $30?

ooh..man..You dont know how much I really wanted to build a desktop with this $1000. But current situation dont allow me. :\

That being said, after sep2012, i am giving this lappy to my brother and going back to the good old days of desktop building.()🙂

That time i will come back again here for good old advice on the parts..That is so exciting..Picking up different parts , then assembling your own system..ooh..man..that's life...you and your own baby together marching towards the common goal of PC gaming Nirvana..()🙂

Thanks Guys..You all rock as always..will come back for more...

1. is it capable of playing BF3, skyrim, Farcry, Crysis 2, HL 2..(there are other games but these are my starters..:biggrin🙂 in high resolution. 1080P??

Depends on your definition of "play". It will run all of those games. If your question is whether or not you can get decent framerates, the answers are no, no, yes, no, and yes, respectively.

2. is it capable to withstand up and coming games of 2012?

Some stuff, sure. I wouldn't count on playing any upcoming graphically intense shooters, action rpgs, etc. at high details and resolution though.
